Rockwall County Clerk - Misdemeanor DWI Records
The Rockwall County Clerk at Suite 100 of the same courthouse building maintains misdemeanor DWI records from the County Court at Law. First and second DWI offenses fall under Texas Penal Code Section 49.04 and 49.09. A first offense is a Class B misdemeanor. Second offense is Class A. A BAC of 0.15 or above on a first offense also raises it to Class A.
Records show the arrest date, charge classification, fine amount, court costs, probation terms if any, and community service hours ordered. Deferred adjudication is available for first-time DWI offenders. The standard deferral period runs 12 months and includes a 12-hour DWI education course, a Victim Impact Panel, and 24 to 80 hours of community service. No alcohol violations are allowed during the deferral period.

Rockwall County Sheriff - Arrest Records

Body cam footage is kept for 90 days under standard retention; felony cases get extended retention to case disposition.

Rockwall Municipal Court - Class C Offenses
The Rockwall Municipal Court at 385 S. Goliad Street handles Class C misdemeanors for incidents within Rockwall city limits. Texas DWI Law and License Actions

After any DWI arrest in Rockwall County, the Texas DPS Administrative License Revocation process starts right away. The arresting officer takes the physical license and issues a 40-day temporary permit. A driver has 15 days to request an ALR hearing or the suspension becomes automatic. Refusing a chemical test leads to a 180-day suspension for adults on a first offense. Failing the test at 0.08 or above brings a 90-day suspension.
